What is Icians Underground?

Icians Underground is an independent, student-built online community created specifically for the students of Initao College. This platform serves as a virtual space where Icians from all year levels, departments, and interests can connect, communicate, collaborate, and support each other.

This is not just another social media platform — it's a student ground where we can share ideas, ask questions, discover opportunities, and form meaningful connections within our own academic environment.

Why This Was Created

As a student of Initao College, I saw the need for a dedicated digital space where we, the students, can interact beyond the classroom. Our college doesn't currently provide any kind of exclusive online student community — and most of us rely on noisy, ad-filled platforms like Facebook and Messenger, which often distract more than they help.

So I decided to build something simple, purposeful, and local:

A student-led community, built by one of us, for all of us.

What This Platform Offers

While this site runs on the free version of Open Source Social Network (OSSN), and does have limitations, it still provides a solid foundation for building real student connections. Here’s what you can do inside Icians Underground:

  • Join Groups: Based on courses, departments, year levels, or interests

The platform is mobile-friendly and designed to be as lightweight as possible, so you can access it easily even with limited data or older phones.

⚠️ Platform Limitations

This site is built using freely available tools, meaning:

  • No advanced features like instant messaging, file uploads, or live notifications

  • Limited media support (simple images and text posts only)

  • Basic moderation done manually by me

  • Occasional bugs or glitches may occur

Despite these limitations, I believe that function comes before fancy features — and this space already gives us more value than endlessly scrolling through unrelated content elsewhere.

Who Runs This?

My name is not listed here officially, but I’m a current student of Initao College. I manage the site under the username Admin. Everything you see here — from setup, customization, moderation, and updates — is handled by me, alone.

I receive no funding, no support from faculty or school management, and no advertising revenue. This is a personal initiative driven by passion and purpose, with the hope of building a stronger student community within our college.
